Frampton marsh.
Another trip over today with some good birds about.Not many waders,but the ones I did see were mostly getting into sparkling breeding plumage.Three curlew sandpipers gave good views.
A dozen black tailed godwits,loads (50+ perhaps?) of avocets,many now with chicks,dunlin,common sandpiper,ringed plover,grey plover,a few little ringed plovers,redshanks and a good many lapwings,also with chicks made up the rest of the waders.There was a little stint somewhere too,but I didn’t find it.
The black headed gulls were also doing well with young and there was a noticeable increase in large gulls-no doubt attracted by easy pickings.
A spoonbill spent most of it’s time sleeping,as they do.
A second calendar year little gull daintily flew around then landed.
My walk around the wetland areas produced a fine male marsh harrier,a few yellow wagtails,singing skylarks,yellowhammers and whitethroats,along with 3 turtle doves in the hedgerows.
Other birds seen:little egrets,shovelers,2 wigeon,tuftys,lbb gulls,herring gulls,gt crested grebe,heron,gbb gull,mute swans,reed bunting,reed warbler,sedge warbler,linnets,stock dove,swallows,swifts,house martins,sand martins,common terns,pied wagtails,oystercatchers.Just a few brents remained.
