Marston STW comes up trumps again

My usual Monday morning trip to Marston usually consisted of walking down the track to scout the reed beds and sometimes the works or Hough Mill Lane, then returning via the hide if I have time. This Morning I decided to go to the hide straight away to see if I could spot the LRP that several people have seen recently. What a surprise when I opened the hatch – an Avocet feeding almost in front of the hide! OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Blimey, not seen one of those here before rarely any inland. A couple of texts and Trev turned up shortly followed by Graham. Then a Grey Heron flew into to the far end. Both still there when I left at 1045.

Called into to another site on the way home and noted that the Peregrine chicks are almost ready to fly – all four of them, hopefully they are much safer now.

Photography difficult at distance owing to the heat haze. Taken with the Olympus E-M5 plus Canon 400mm plus 1.4x converter.
