After a top tip from Dave on where to look for the Whinchats, I had a wander around Marston today and found them. I spent half an hour keeping up with them along the bank and it was a half an hour well spent watching these delightful birds. Back to the hide briefly and watched a distant Hobby devouring some dragonflies. I usually dip on the birds Dave tips me so I was pleased to have some success today. The next challenge is the European Eagle Owl at the Bass Maltings in Sleaford…anyone had success there? I’ve seen some grainy photos on Facebook and lots of discussion over the identification of the bird so I’ll be keen to get myself down there and see if I can get lucky.
