A couple of entertaining hours at Marston this afternoon , the highlights were :
2 Cettis Warbler in full song, a Little Egret flew thru and followed the river towards Barkston, a Single Green Sandpiper along the rear drain, 10 Water Rail were seen with as many again heard only, a single Chiffchaff was very vocal in the reedbed, a single Grey Wagtail with the Green Sand, at least 60 Reed Bunting roosted in the reedbed arriving from all directions at dusk, it makes you wonder how far they travel from.
100 Teal was notable as they aren’t always that easy to count at this site, less than 20 Wigeon on site at the minute and 3 Little Grebe on the scrape , with 1 bird almost in breeding plumage.
