Last few days at Gib

December 27th. Around were a Water Pipit, a Stonechat, 390 Pink-footed Goose, 360 Grey Plover and 1500 Oystercatcher. Offshore were 400 Eider, 15 Red-breasted Merganser, 60 Red-throated Diver and 12 Common Scoter. Heading south were 7 Siskin.

December 26th. Birds around included 40 Fieldfare, 4 Redwing and 35 Corn Bunting.

December 25th. Around were a male Hen Harrier, 8 Fieldfare and 3 Woodcock. On Tennyson’s Sands were 500 Pink-footed Goose.

A brief morning ringing session at Aylmer Avenue provided 2 new and 2 retrap Blackbird.

December 24th. Birds around included 800 Pink-footed Goose, a Green Woodpecker and 50 Fieldfare. On Tennyson’s Sands were a Spotted Redshank, a Pintail and 5 Black-tailed Godwit. Offshore were 17 Eider. Flying south were a Kittiwake and 98 Eider. In from the east came 113 Pink-footed Goose.
