Sat 8th may. Gib. warm, sunny.
I was there at just after 4am, ready for the alpine accentor to show up. It was a top drawer find by Richard Doan, the previous evening. Did it have the decency to hang around?…..Naaaa. Never mind it was a lovely day and Kev Wilson hit back at his understudy’s great find with one of his own – a western bonelli’s warbler, discovered virtually outside his front door! It was very popular and most birders got views, with a bit of patience. A spoonbill gave great views and a couple of cuckoos were seen and heard.
