Managed an hour here today , the first two birds noted were 2 Red Kites , both entering the site from the South , although becoming increasingly regular here they are still a pleasure to see .
The abundance of Skylark at this site is incredible , with at least 40 birds seen !
The site also holds literally thousands of Butterflies which were my main target today , the most abundant species are Meadow Brown , followed closely by Small Tortoiseshell, with a supporting cast of Ringlet , Small Skipper , Essex Skipper , large Skipper & Gatekeeper.
I was delighted to find a few Small Heath as they aren’t an easy butterfly to get locally .
The only Moths noted were the ever present Burnets , a very photogenic species and always stunning .
