I’d forgotten just how good Rutland water is! In addition to the star bird I saw 3, poss 4 great white egrets, 3 black-necked grebes, 9 smew, 14 red-crested pochards, a slavonian grebe, 3 stonechats, c.30 goosanders, a peregrine and a kingfisher. Scaup and red-necked grebe were also reported. Also met some friendly people.
