One of the little egrets at Marston on Sunday evening showed yellow on the legs, mostly on the back of the legs, right up to the knees. I havn’t noticed this before so took a few record shots.
After a bit of study I reckon it is an immature bird. The very small, single plume on the back of the neck is a feature of juveniles. There were no plumes at the rear and the bill was greyish.
